Congratulations to Kondō Takahiro – A 2024 Kyoto City Person of Cultural Merit!

Today, we are thrilled to share the remarkable achievement of Kondō Takahiro, who has been honored as a Kyoto City Person of Cultural Merit. This recognition, awarded annually to those who have made extraordinary contributions to the cultural development of Kyoto, is a testament to Kondō-san’s lifelong dedication to the art of ceramics—a craft that not only preserves tradition but pushes it forward with creativity and heart.

Since the Kyoto City Persons of Cultural Merit Awards were established in 1968, 315 individuals have been recognized for their exceptional work in advancing the cultural richness of this great city. Kondō Takahiro’s inclusion in this distinguished group is a reflection of his unwavering commitment to preserving and enhancing the cultural fabric of Kyoto.

As Kyoto City Chairperson Nishimura said so powerfully at the award ceremony, "The arts bring us closer together—they foster mutual understanding, encourage creativity, and strengthen our shared sense of humanity." Through his work, Kondō-san exemplifies these values, and we are all the richer for it.

We look forward to the continued contributions Kondō Takahiro will make, not just to Kyoto, but to the world.
